Hi, I'm Ellen. I am a wife, a mom, and a proofreader. I grew up in the Chicago area, and I've lived in Iowa and I currently live in South Dakota. I found Proofread Anywhere back in 2017, during a time of transition in my family's life. When we were going to be moving to a new state and didn't know what kind of job opportunities I would have where we were going.

And I also knew down the road that I wanted to stay home when we started having kids. Um, but still be able to bring in an income to supplement my husband's income. So I started the course with kind of that mindset, and I worked on it a lot during the summer of '17, finished it up that fall. And then in the spring of 2018, I started building up my business, doing all that background work that needed to get done first.

And then that summer I had my first client. And then from there kind of built up; got more and more clients. And at the peak of my workload during 2019 is when I was doing the most proofreading. I was averaging about a thousand to $2,000 a month, just keeping in mind that some months of the year were less, some were more just depending on workflow and the number of clients I had at the time.

And I've always done it part-time as well in addition to another part-time job I do from home. And currently I'm even doing it more part-time than I was now that I have a son, and I'm averaging about 700 to a thousand dollars a month now. And I've been able to be home with my son, which has been a joy and a blessing, and that was the original goal as well. So it's really cool to see where I've come in the last four years and just to see the opportunity that this has been for our family. So I can bring in an income, but also be home as well. So it's a lot of hard work, but it definitely has paid off.
