After doing a lot of digging for the right work-from-home job, stay-at-home mom Jen found Caitlin Pyle's Proofread Anywhere program! Jen tells us how the course is different than other online opportunities and how the decision to invest in herself has opened up so many possibilities for her.
Hi, my name is Jen. I live just outside South Bend, Indiana. I came across Proofread Anywhere back in 2016. I was a stay-at-home mom. I had a three-year-old and I was also pregnant with my daughter, and my husband and I came to a place where we realized that it would be good to have some extra income, but because of where I was with young children, a job outside the home wasn't possible, of course. And so we started looking at other options. There's a lot of options out there. And thank goodness I have a really high scam filter, so there were a lot of things that I knew right away to not even look at.
And so that's what was interesting about Proofread Anywhere. One of the things that really attracted me to it was the fact that there were just no false promises. It was always super clear that you're not going to make a million dollars in a month. It's not going to be easy money. If you want to be successful, you're going to have to work really hard at this. And I liked that. I really liked that Caitlin or anybody else on the team wasn't trying to just sell me false promises, but instead said, "You're going to get out of this what you put into it."
And so that really was my main, first impression of Proofread Anywhere was that I was already like, "Wow, this is really, really different from anything else I've ever seen." And so I think, for me, any concerns that I might have had would have been more just to do with myself, my own confidence, is this really something that I can do, because it's scary to put yourself out there like that. But the course itself was just a lot of fun. I realized that even as much as I've loved writing and correcting people's grammar, there was still a whole lot that I didn't understand and that I had to learn. And it was a really great learning curve and it was fun to use my brain in ways that didn't involve just changing diapers and making sandwiches. It was a good way to stretch my brain again.
And so after I took the course, I graduated, I actually took the general proofreading 2017. And within two months I had already recouped the cost of the course. And during that time I've kind of fluctuated. I still use my proofreading skills, but I've also gotten into virtual assisting, which is always funny to me because the term virtual assisting means that you can work from anywhere, but I also feel like it means that you do virtually anything. And it's been really neat because I'm also still stretching my brain. I'm learning new skills that I never thought I had before and that never would have happened if I hadn't first taken that step of faith with Proofread Anywhere. I'd still be in that same place that I was before.
And so that's just really exciting for me. And so that's where I am now. I feel like even where I am now compared to where I was then that this is still only the beginning. I still have so much more growing to do and so much more to learn and I'm really excited to see what comes next. But absolutely would recommend this course to anybody. I guess the caveat would be as long as you're ready to work hard, as long as you are ready to accept that money isn't just going to be handed to you. It's not going to be easy. You're going to have to work hard for it, but if you do, it's worth it. And so that would be my recommendation is if you are ready to work hard, if you're ready to invest, not just in a course, but in yourself. And that's not just about money. That's also about your time. If you're ready to invest that time in yourself, then go for it. Then this is definitely the course for you.
