Tired of working to pad someone else's bank account and facing numerous obstacles in her personal life, Kelly embarked on her journey to become a proofreader online -- and she is using one of Proofread Anywhere's online proofreading courses to do it! At the age of 62, Kelly is proof that age doesn't matter... your skills do!
Hi, my name is Kelly. I am in Carrollton, Texas, and I'm 62 years old. I have been working most of my life for other people. Working to make other people's business successful; working for other people to put money in their bank accounts. And it's something I've been thinking about lately. I was scrolling through Facebook, and I happened upon this Caitlin Pyle proofread workshop.
And I thought, well, that's interesting. I'm an avid reader. My father is a writer, so maybe this is something I should look into. So I took the hour-long workshop, and I was riveted. And at the end of that workshop, I went to my secret drawer, and I pulled out my emergency credit card and I bought in. All the way, I am in.
I've been through now the first 11 modules, and I took the vocabulary test and I didn't pass. So now I am diving into the misused and abused words, and also Comma Bootcamp. And I'm going to study there; take my 11 modules again. And I know that next time I will definitely pass the vocabulary test.
So why is this important to me? Well, as I mentioned, I'm 62 years old. I've got elderly parents. I have a disabled child. I have a husband and a house and pets, and I need to be taking care of my life. Not someone else's. I need to be building my own business, not someone else's. And so I'm really excited about this.
I can see that it's going to happen. I can visualize it. I know it. Since I've made this decision, some pretty radical things have happened. I recently met a financial advisor who is willing to start with me at a very tiny amount of money. I've been so excited. I know it's gonna happen. I have my eye on the prize.
I am going to get there, and I hope that I meet you there!
