Thinking of Enrolling? Ask Yourself These Questions FIRST.

I’m not teaching these courses to get rich. I don’t want just anyone to enroll. Everywhere on this website, I try really, really hard to make it clear just how much work it is to do what I do. If you’re not prepared to work, or you don’t want to work, this isn’t right for you.

On the other hand, if you’re a coachable person with some mad eagle-eye skills willing to do what it takes, you have a fighting chance.

Below are the eight questions I want you to answer before you consider enrolling in Transcript Proofreading: Theory and Practice™ or General Proofreading:Theory and Practice™ .

It is CRUCIAL you think this over thoroughly before enrolling. Do not enroll if you’re not ready to commit to taking action.

If you answer “NO” to ANY of the follow questions, you’re not ready to enroll.

1) Am I a hard worker with a strong work ethic?

2) Do I like reading?

3) Can I spot a variety of errors quickly?

4) Am I willing to forget what I think I already know about proofreading and take the necessary time to not just learn, but MASTER a new skill before going out to network and find clients?

5) Am I willing to look inside myself to identify any negative, limiting beliefs I may have about my ability to learn, and am I willing to do whatever it takes to rid myself of any self-constructed confidence crushers in my life?

6) Am I ready to eat, sleep, and think proofreading for a long period of time?

7) Am I willing to follow ALL instructions carefully, not even think about taking shortcuts, so I can do things the right way?

8) Am I willing to take constructive criticism, face possible rejection, regroup, seek support, and keep trying if things don’t always work out the way I envisioned?

If you answered “YES” to ALL eight of these questions, you can feel comfortable enrolling in  Transcript Proofreading: Theory and Practiceor General Proofreading:Theory and Practice™ . Again, if you answered “NO” to ANY of these questions, you are not ready to enroll as a student in the course (yet).

A Final Word

You CAN make money doing this, but not without the patience to truly master the skill first. Don’t let the excitement of making money detract from your ultimate goal: mastery.

  1. It is a skill, you’re not exaggerating when you say we need to forget what we think we know about proofreading. This is a whole different animal, and it takes some getting used to.

  2. If you answer “NO” to ANY of the follow questions, you’re not ready to enroll.

Just letting you know about the typo here on this page

  3. Actually, there are two typos. The last word “(yet).” should read “(yet.)” following the usual rules of punctuation.

    1. Hi, bryant! Actually, the terminal punctuation does indeed come outside the closing paren at the end of the sentence, so it is correct as is. 🙂

  4. Great closing video. I'm STILL a fence-sitter Caitlin! I didn't answer "No" to any questions but I did have two "Maybe's". Which could fall into the "Not yet" category?? I just so wish I had more confidence!!

  5. My answer to all eight questions is a big YES. I bumped into this opportunity a couple of days ago. Before now, I didn't even know that a platform like this (where I could learn and master proofreading skill) existed. This is what I've always wanted. But sadly, I don't have the means at this time.

  6. I am sayimg yes to all the conditions
This is because i am a former English Language. anditerature teacher.
