Why Proofread Anywhere Almost Never Existed [FREE DOWNLOAD]

Did you know Proofread Anywhere almost never existed?

It almost didn’t happen because I didn’t believe in it. I didn’t believe anyone wanted to learn what I had to teach; I didn’t believe I could write anything people wanted to read; I didn’t believe my skills were something worth paying for.

I didn’t believe in myself. I almost let the mean voices and mistakes from my past stop me from moving forward.

That might seem shocking with the success of the program and its graduates so far… and on the outside, it may appear I’ve “got it all together” or perhaps that I was always perky and positive… but I wasn’t. And sometimes I’m still not. From time to time, I still have feelings where I just want to quit or that I have no idea what I’m doing… despite the evidence that I very clearly do!

I recently got super real with Jodi Flynn on the Women Taking the Lead podcast. We talked about where I started, my lowest “playing small” moments, how my business — and success — almost never happened, and how LEARNING CHANGES EVERYTHING.

If you need some inspiration today, go here to download for free and listen (30 minutes).

Here’s a link to the Daily Greatness Journal I mentioned in the interview.

The Work-At-Home Survival Guide is HERE!

I’ve spent months writing and perfecting this book!

It’s the fourth book I’ve published and I’m more excited about this one than all the others combined.

  1. I’ve been away from PA all month, just coming back to it today. In April I was forced to retire, and PA is by far my best hope of financial survival as my retirement is a mere pittance. Anyway, I’m very happy to see this. I feel it’s just the encouragement I need right now.

    1. Wow, Camille!! So glad it encouraged you — and I’m glad you’re back! I’ve been reading the MrMoneyMustache.com blog the last month or so, and it’s got me all pumped up about finances and reducing expenses by living more simply.

  2. Caitlin, your chat with Jodi touched my heart. I’m so much older than you are, but I identified with many of your experiences, including the unprofessional way you were treated by your first professional employer, which for me was also a family-run court reporting firm. I also resonated with your appreciation for the power of learning, your growth process, and your high professional standards.

I’ve been thinking about PA for some time (as you are probably starting to realize!); unfortunately, a couple months ago my mother became seriously ill, and she died last week. I listened to the podcast while packing to attend her out-of-state funeral. This has not been a time for important decisions and commitments in my life. But I’ve enjoyed my outsider connection to you and PA, and it’s comforting to know you’ll be there when I’m ready. Thank you for your authenticity.

    1. Wow, Ranee… that is pretty wild you had a similar experience at a reporting firm. It’s a pretty dog-eat-dog industry sometimes. I am SO sorry to hear about your mom 🙁 Definitely focus on family right now, ’cause you’re right… we’re not going anywhere 🙂

  3. I really want to do this, I just did not know how bad my punctuation has gotten, since I do not really use it I do not remember some of the important things. I have one ore shot at the test, so I am trying to make sure it is done right.

  4. What a story, Caitlin! You so inspire me-and though I’ve been working for the same gov’t agency for 27 1/2 years, I resonate with your experience. I haven’t been fired, but have had managers who despite my high level of competence, are more interested in “coverage’ than skill level. As recently as last fall, a manager became incensed when I requested a reallocation due to the last 6 years of doing higher level work than peers, and refused to support it (she did admit I was doing the work-but will only promote full-timers). I work part-time due to health issues, and there are only a few of us in a large organization, but we are undervalued. I found out about you and Proofread Anywhere and am happily plugging along through the course. My view of what I can do, despite my physical/health limitations has expanded because of you, and you have a very special place in my heart because of it. Many thanks. Mary

  5. Hi Caitlin,

I have been following you since January and the more I listen to you the more I know you are genuine and sincere, and really believe that helping others is where it’s at. Thank you. The stories of how you went from total defeat (temporary) to total success is an American dream come true. It is not so hard to live the American Dream if only we are willing to work very hard, and not give in to the flesh. By flesh I mean, laziness, gluttony, lol…procrastination, etc.

I bought the Survival Guide and am reading it now so thank you for putting this down on paper. Whew! You did it and so can I because of you!

I am hoping to purchase one of the courses outlined in the Guide and take it from there.

    Thanks Again,

    Darlene

      1. By the way, “The Work-At-Home Survival Guide” is extremely helpful and insightful; I am so glad that I purchased it and thank you Caitlin for all that you bring to those of us who need help with our careers. You’re a Godsend! You are rocking it girl!

  6. Caitlin, could you please tell me how to insert my picture in the post?

    1. Hi, Darlene. I can help. 🙂 Go to the gray avatar icon (like the one that appears next to your name) at the top right of your screen and click “Edit My Profile.” Scroll down and you’ll find “Profile Picture.” Teehee, I need to take care of this myself! Have a great weekend!

  7. Just listened to the audio, loved it. Very encouraging. I like how you Caitlin were not afraid to share the verbal abuse you received in the past by your past employer. I would be shy or embarrassed to share every negative word that was being said to me, but then again I would ask myself : “How can I inspire people then, or be someone they can relate to?”. Thank you for sharing that.

    1. 🙂 Thing is, when people say things that are THAT mean about someone else, it doesn’t *really* say anything about the person (me), but it does say everything about the person saying those things. What kind of person says those things? A not-very-good one! People need to hear that it’s NOT okay to be spoken to like that… and I’m happy to be the one to tell ’em 😀

      1. Couldn’t agree more. The only feeling I got from reading about your experience was like “Wow, I can relate” and “Glad I am not the only one”

      2. I was fired unjustly from a job a few years ago, and all kinds of horrible things were said about me. I spoke up and spoke out about the treatment I received, fought tooth and nail, but I was still let go. One of the persons behind my termination suggested that I go find a job flipping burgers at a fast-food place. The experience was maddening, but you learn who is for you and who is not. I also learned that I can’t keep depending on others for a paycheck. This is why I’m seriously looking into taking your course.

  8. That was a great interview! I jotted down notes from it. I was glad you emphasized your manta, “Learning changes everything!” This is certainly a key to success and moving forward. I can be my own worst enemy by holding myself back in thinking I don’t have what it takes. However, moving forward and taking those steps to learn, and putting the time in to make progress will propel me into the life that I long for. Thanks for opening your life and lessons and showing me that all things are possible and that I can move on to my dreams.

  9. Hi Caitlin,
Maybe advising people to have their debit cards available while reading this chapter would help. There were two purchases needed to be made, and I'm studying in my room upstairs without my phone or cards. I'll have to look for this page again tomorrow. Darn!
